PAX – 6 is a magazine for design, photography, illustration and visual culture designed and produced by Das Studio. For its second edition about the colour blue, the motion design office Nord Nord and Studio Catana worked closely together and created a moving poster.
The theme of the edition is portrayed in an abstract way, leaving room for interpretation. The poster combines graphics, movement and sound. It has no beginning and no end. A set of typographic compositions playing with blue and its complementary colour are animated, repeated and superimposed in time like a musical canon. The repetitive compositions come to life thanks to the sound designed by Torsten Strer.
Benjamin Behrendt produced a limited edition of the poster employing risograph printing. This mechanical printing technique allowed the printing of one colour at a time. Each time the paper passed through the machine, small misalignments accumulated, which gave the print its artisanal character and made each print unique. The limited edition was made for friends and clients.
