Digitales Hannover is a project of the association kre|H|tiv Netzwerk Hannover e.V. It promotes effective public presentation of digitalisation and the digital economy in Hanover. This platform brings together companies and people from different sectors to discuss, question and rethink the relation between digitalisation and citizens.
Studio Catana was commissioned to design a simple, flexible and distinctive visual system to facilitate the layout of future formats. The design inspired by visuals related to the digital – such as networks, pixels or binary code – is translated in a strong visual language. The logotype, based on three geometric figures, is a representation of the link between the digital and the human. The square is used to represent the logic of pixel and machine. The circle evokes the organic. It represents the cell, the human, the world. The gradient of lines that look similar to a signal connects the square and the circle. The spacing between the square and the circle is variable, enabling the logotype to be more than a static symbol. Like an impulse, it reflects the evolving nature of the digital theme and the project itself. It is paired with the contemporary sans serif typeface Lab Grotesque. The three geometric figures, the colour code and the typography constitute the identity toolbox. While remaining easy to use, it offers plenty of freedom in the creation of communications materials.
