Every year, the Lange Nacht der Theater presents an original and diverse program in more than twenty theatres in Hanover. The program includes theatre, opera, dance, music, variety theatre, comedy, puppet theatre, acrobatics, magic and reading. For one night, visitors move through the city from stage to stage following the route of their choice.
Bureau Hardy Seiler and Ilina Catana redesigned the visual identity for this event in 2016. For the 16th edition in 2017, Ilina Catana developed the visual language of the event under the art direction of Hardy Seiler. Inspired by the theatre, the night and the city, the type-led visuals of the identity are reinterpreted, every year. In 2017, the black and white composition of the previous year turns into a bright distinctive colour. On a vivid background, the letters rise like illuminated buildings in an urban space or on a theatre set. Letters flexibly arranged on a rigorous grid fill the format, while shadows are created using a finely arranged dot pattern.
