t3n is one of the most popular magazines for the digital economy in Germany. The printed edition is published quarterly by yeebase media in Hanover. It covers the most important trends in the digital industry and provides in-depth articles on them.
Jan Heidemann, t3n’s art director, approached Ilina Catana to create a double-page spread as well as small illustrations for the main article of the 52nd edition. The article Pionierland presented a selection of ten innovative projects in Germany, including representations of research in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics to the Chaos Computer Club, the most important hacker club in Germany. Line gradient, colours and forms are used to allude to the article’s theme. The contrasted typographic composition brings together the title and the number ten. The design stimulates the reader and contrasts with the previous pages, highlighting the main article and its content.
